Clock appreciation

Can we all just take a moment to appreciate creative clocks? I mean,

not only are they extremely cool to look at,

they acknowledge the fact that even though we have a rigid, established system for telling time (hours, minutes, seconds),

there are still many ways to display time information

and we are not bound by any particular shape or form.

Regardless of what boring traditional clock designs have been used in the past,

we are free to reinvent and reimagine the process of telling time

and make it as creative and exciting as we want,

and although some methods of telling time will prove better and more efficient than others,

the freedom to try anything just to see what works is part of what makes it so interesting.

At this point, we have the materials, technology, and manufacturing methods to easily produce whatever kind of clock we can dream up,

and for all we know, one of these new designs will prove more efficient than the traditional clock format

and become the main way of telling time.

To us, some of them may seem hard to read, but really it’s just because we haven’t grown up telling time in that way.

Who really knows what clocks will look like in the future?

Why should they be the same as the clocks we use today?

It’s especially cool since the definition of art has changed over time.

Now, anything can be art.

Clocks can be art

— art that is seamlessly integrated into our daily lives.

Even if physical clocks are one day replaced by digital clocks,

there are still an infinite number of ways to display time electronically,

and if an analog clock can be art,

then a digital clock can be art.

It kind of challenges the way you think

and opens up some pretty amazing possibilities,

don’t you think?
